Physical activity helps children grow strong bones, maintain a healthy weight and discover the world around them. Best of all, its great fun!
Physical inactivity is one of the top ten causes of disease and disability (NHS, July 2017) It is also one of the most preventable causes!
As parents, carer and relatives we are all perfectly placed to be good role models for children being active. It’s not only children who can walk and run who need to keep active. Physical activity is of paramount importance to a baby’s normal growth and development. Continued exercise will set a child up to continue with a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their life.
Physical activity should be encouraged from birth, particularly through floor based play and water based activities in safe environments
Children who can walk on their own should be physically active every day for at least three hours, spread throughout the day
Babies and children shouldn’t stay sitting or lying down for long periods, except when they’re asleep.
Here at K2 Crawley Nursery and Pre-school we suggest the Change 4 Life 10 minute shake ups series. We love joining all our favourite characters from Beauty and the Beast to Moana and Cars 3 in exciting 10 minute activities. And even better, they add new shake ups every week for us to try.
